as mentioned, go with more lighting than you think you'll need. Also take into consideration that you have the garage door up some times, blocking some of your fixtures.

Ive got (6) 8' sections going in my new garage. They are 4 bulbs wide and in 4' legnths for bulbs. (4) are being stranded back to back to creat 32' of working light for the front of my vehicles and the remaining two will be located above the garage door for when the door is closed so I can see behind the vehicles as well. I always say more is better in lighting

I always say more is better in lighting

I installed 24 units in the ceiling of my 36x60 shop. The doors do not raise to all lights are always uncovered.

Each holds 4 48" tubes.

It's only really barely enough light and then only when all tubes in all frames are working..which was the case once since the shop went up 13 years ago; right after the power was first turned on.

It looked like plenty when we put 'em up....but I've got proof that more is better, right here in my shop. For comparison with an earlier poster..I'd venture a guess that the overall 'ambient' light levels in Broncitis' shop are half again what mine are.

We just redid our attached garage and are almost done with the main garage. Full sheetrock, perfect mudding, taping and sanding. Painted and hung with 4 8' T12's - so much light it hurts when you first turn on the lights. We have 12 of those 8' T12's for the double garage...
