Whats some opinions on the best EFI on the market with the least amount of trouble shooting.

Currently have a FAST: EZ efi on a 1976 , 351 motor with a c4 transmission and I have tons of problems with the vehicle dying when I put it in reverse or not wanting to turn over in general. Heard Fast isn’t the greatest and was looking at more options. Any help would be appreciated .

Holley HP/Terminator/TerminatorX fan here. For quite a few years now. I'm even using it on marine engine builds.

Best would be motec or emtron. Then after would be haltec, link, etc... Holley is hot garbage compared to these.

Easiest would be the Pro Flo, in my opinion.

Best at what? Most are a best at one thing or another. Price, ease of install, tunability, multi stage injection, direct inject compatible, running blends of fuel, user interface, generic parts store parts availability...

Im looking for the most reliable and the easiest to troubleshoot. Im currently having issues when i put my truck into reverse and let off the gas it will die and takes about 30
Minutes to an hour to fire back up.

Hard to beat explorer efi with its OBD2 diagnostic and parts all available at your local auto parts store.

Easiest to troubleshoot is a HUGE factor.

Easy to troubleshoot means a lot.

Easy to troubleshoot means you aren't a computer programmer, can't read/write code, can't figure out on your own how to troubleshoot software issues that have changed with the excuse being "an upgrade".. meaning the instructions that are ALL OVER the Internet aren't valid so the owner/operator who isn't a computer geek hasn't got a CLUE how to fix his vehicle even when it's a simple fix because he/her can't interpret the software upgrades and therefore just gets frustrated.

KISS is a good thing here. Couple of these suggestions for EFI are anything BUT KISS simple.

If it's a stock build or close to it, go with Ford stuff or maybe ProFlow. The stock Ford stuff from 30yrs ago had millions of dollars of research and probably billions of miles put on it from millions of consumers....pretty hard to beat that for dependability. Buy an extra ECU when you go stock Ford and troubleshooting is simple. It's either the ECU or it's a simple sensor and as easy as unplug and try the known good part.

My setup is anything but the KISS method and I can't believe what a royal PITA it is to just replace a sensor because you now have to tweak the settings in the ECU because the sensor can't just be replaced so OFF TO THE TUNER YOU GO...

Just hoping reality hits ya with some of these suggestions... all with good intentions.

Does any other time your engine dies does it take 30+ min to restart? Can you hold your pedal to the floor for a std default anti-flood sequence to eliminate the possibility that the engine is simply flooded (although 30+ min is a long time for that). Does it only stall when the engines HOT when going into reverse?

1st thing I'd try is setting the idle at 950 or 1,000 rpm and see if it dies.

Do you have spark when it won't start for 30+ minutes? This is extremely important to determine if it's the ECU or simply flooded or something else?

I'm not sure how that can be the ECU unless somehow the "neutral" safety switch is getting involved somehow as you row thru the gear selector on the way to Rev from Drive... no clue but the ECU should not otherwise know you are shifting as it's not controlling the tranny. It sounds like a idle speed/command issue under load or going from no load to load.... Try increasing your idle speed to 1,000rpm. Drop it into reverse and see if it dies. If it doesn't then it's some kind of idle setting/load setting as your engine looses too much rpm and dies. Does it ever do it from reverse to first? Does reverse and first have the same gear ratio?

Just trying to toss some checks in there for ya?
