Best rear drum brakes?

Hey foks,

I know there have been different types of rear drums used on the EB over the years. 10" 11" small bearing and large, etc. But if building from scratch is there one setup that is the best?

Would the 76-77 11" setup be it? Presumably things got better with time but that isn't always the case.

Thanks again,

Brett

The rear brakes in my '77 are much better than the ones in my '68 and '74 Broncos and I don't see much room for anything larger.

'76-'77 have the largest braking area. They are 1/2" wider than the '66-'75 11" brakes. They will also bolt on to an earlier HD (11" brake) axle housing but the '76-'77 axle shafts are slightly longer to accommodate the wider brakes. Those are the brakes I would go with.
