Need help guys. I've got about 4-4 1/2" between my radiator and the water pump pulley. I've had a Taurus fan waiting in the shop till I needed it. Now I need it and it just wont fit. I've trimmed the shroud but no way. Any suggestions without having to go buy a slim line fan somewhere? What about the stock Explorer fan. I never really looked at it but now I'm looking at all of my options.

The explorer fan will easily fit but only if you have the explorer front dress and waterpump. The explorer fan threads onto the waterpump shaft.

Thanks Viperwolf,
I've got the whole matching front dress and pump, just never got the fan. Is it V8 specific? I ask because I'll go visit the local pick and pull for one and wasn't sure if they used the same or similar fan on the V6.

Some V6 fan and clutch assemblies also fit on the waterpump.

Here is the info I got out of one of the other treads here:

Correct, the clutch is not interchangable. The fan is not interchangable. But as a whole assambly it is interchangable.

5.0 fan with 4.0 clutch = no
4.0 fan with 5.0 clutch = no
5.0 fan with 5.0 clutch = yes
4.0 fan with 4.0 clutch = yes

Outside diameter is the same
Mounting depth is the same
mounting threads are the same
Rotation is the same

The Fan and clutch I got of a 4.0 explorer for $20 at the pick and pull. The fan shroud is of the same truck: I trimmed it up and did a little fiber glass work to it.

Weasel,
That looks really good. Thanks for the rundown on interchanging the parts. Looks like I'll head down to the parts yard on Monday to look for it.
