Best way to cleanly remove 6 cyl motor mounts?

I'd use a cut off wheel to get it close and then grinder wheel to get smooth.

This mod is making the I6 Bronco that much more rare. I'd keep it an Inline 6.

I might try going with a 250 with the SBF Bell-housing and put a C4/Dana 20 behind it. I've done the 300, and the 250 HAS to be easier to install than that!

not much, it also has a tall deck AND 60s, 70s fords have low hoods...
I chose a 70/4 RBS as it's as low as an autolite. Hit me up @ info in below
sig if U wanna. Gotta avoid jackin dis guy's thread!
(BTW: my dad is on Longboat Key if it that Lakewood Ranch).

Yes, it is much easier. You only have to come up with an inch or so for the added deck height.

Yes, there seem to be a lot of those around heAr...

%)

This is the reason I don't get on other forums. On this forum 99% of responders to questions reply in respectful, meaningful replies and everyone's answers are respected. I try to post things that are helpful and not berate folks. The OP of this thread asked a question about removing a welded on motor mount with either a torch or cutoff wheel. The right way depends on the skillset of the one performing the work. I know a few people that can remove a weld with a torch and not compromise the underlying metal. Obviously you aren't one of those and you chose to use a cutoff wheel. That is fine but to imply your way of doing things is the only way to do it is a bit egotistical. I don't know what big red letters mean in a post but I do know what an emoji with its eyes rolling in its head means. I used to see that in my grand daughters eyes when she was little. I have seen you do this to some other members on here and I have also seen you do some very helpful posts as well. Personally I prefer the latter. Ken

[/topic]You're confusing "respect" with "agreement". I've never said my way is the only way; I said a torch is the worst way, regardless of the user's skillset. The fact that you only know "a few people" who could get it right with a torch proves that point, and makes me wonder why you think someone asking for help on a discussion forum might be one of those few people. But I might have been wrong - I suppose the Jaws of Life would be worse than a torch.

FYI
Red letters mean the same as black letters, white letters, or any other color. But you didn't seem to notice (or respect) them when they were black, so I made them more-noticeable. And the eyes are LOOKING UP AT THE PREVIOUS POSTS - they're not doing anything "to you" or to anyone else, and neither am I.[topic]

But that's pretty much irrelevant. The OP only asked for the BEST way, and it looks like the consensus is that a cutting wheel is it.

OK You win. My reply was wrong and you were right. As always. I'm done with this thread.

And this, folks, is how we get enough posts to become a "Bronco Guru".

The last few I've done, I used a plasma cutter and then a little cleanup with the grinder. Quick and easy.

For Steve83 and whoever else is interested....

Here are the photos of the stock 6cyl mounts. I can take whatever other photos you like, just let me know.

Tried to get as many measurements as possible for the record. I have more photos also, just want to make sure that this information is helpful to whoever needs it.

Still on the fence whether I am cutting these off or not. 6 cyl parts don't seem to be as plentiful.....

Thanks
Matt

I would guess there are several members on here with complete 6 cyl drivetrains that were running just fine before they swapped to V8 that can be had for little to nothing...just something to consider if you ONLY have a 302 and if cost is a factor. I've decided to stick with what I got, but my decision was made much easier by the fact that I have a perfectly running, in-place drivetrain. -jeff

I am stuck in the dilemma about what makes the most sense for a semi-daily driven truck. I have original cars that I don't enjoy driving for one reason or another, and more modern running gear would make it more likely to put them on the road. I told my wife that this truck will get driven whenever I don't need my work van.

I just don't like cutting up an otherwise original truck. Its kinda like a time machine. On the flip side, the PO has already erased a lot of the originality, so I would be finishing the job he started.

Cost is always a factor, but I also don't want to do something that saves a few bucks and then the truck just sits because its not reliable or powerful enough to drive on today's roads with the poor quality of today's other drivers.

I know, First world problems.....
