Different ways of looking at it. Although I am sad that it got rolled and needs to be repaired, I also know that this wasn’t its first time on its lid, and at least it happened in Baja and not in LA traffic!
Parnelli messed it up a lot worse than that more than once, but still something to be said for Dick Russell’s fabrication skills over 50 years after he built it…

I was there in Baja at the start of the 1000. Met Mr. Jones. My dates are tad bit fuzzy....1968? I always thnk it funny how few people make no mention the Bronco was 2 wheel drive.
Look at the postcard to your left. I was in hopes to meet James Garner but he was busy and that, is a man you didn't interrupt
Next morning......we were off to catch waves. Gawd what life..................

If you were there in '68, Mr. Jones was driving a 4WD Bronco - fairly stock. Virtually identical to Mr. Garner's.

Sounds like a good life! I was still 5 months away from joining the world!

Thank you Todd for the year correction. Maybe '69 for the two wheeler? Direction please........it's been a few years;)
Perhaps the big postcard has the date, I'll look. And by the by........huge fan of the Az. and not far from the casa here on
the left coast

At 19 my Dad told me if you see Mr. Garner stay clear as he had a short fuse and was a bigger guy. A bunch of the Korea War guys knew
each other. Pops knew a bunch of em' as he was over there as well.
Yep..........some life indeed.

The postcard is from '71 when Parnelli finally won the race overall in Big Oly (he also raced in '70 with Oly). He was in a 2WD (Pony) for the first time at the '70 Baja 500 - which he won. Do you still have property here in the Grand Canyon state?

I had not heard that about James Garner!
