Did anybody ever use one of those billet aluminum alternator brackets, where they have the heim fittings and screw for the tensioner?? If so,post some pictures,it seems like a universal piece of shit to me,cut to fit. Help !!!
Never used the billet bracket, but always thought that the turnbuckle adjuster was a good idea even with the stock brackets if it could be adapted. More for it's tensioning duties than anything else.
It's not like you can't tension the belt correctly by hand, but it can be a bit of a pain so it always seemed that any help would be good. Apparently only as long as it fits though!
I have one I pulled off when switching to explorer serp. Used for several years and it worked ok. I had to make a couple short wrenches, just cut them short, to be able to get in there to tighten the turnbuckle.
I had posted a couple times here in classifieds but it’s been awhile, cheap but didn’t sell.
Bought one from Summit for my 351W that wasn't very expensive but it was supposed to have the alt mounted above the bracket. I didn't read the description enough and was ready to send it back when I got it. Instead I decided to modify it to move the alt to the stock location. The biggest mod was I shortened the tensioner and helms.
I will make this work, and the heims adjustment is nice, but not worth the time, the aluminum bling would be nice too, but you look at it and it's scratched...
