How exactly do you "black out" the turn signals? I have seen some posts on here about using rit dye and also some black out kits for EBs. Any suggestions?

I've got some laying around if you want them. Not in great shape but fine for 30 year old lenses.

I plan on doing LEDs and HIDS for all my lights.. once I get that cash, getting new bumpers first, I tinted tails on my bmw and just used the film tint and it worked fine, murdering out lights doesnt affect the lighting to much unless you put limo tint on :p

I know when I put the smoked lens covers over them it made a huge difference in the light output but then again, that's another type of black-out...

For the headlights (HID or other) wouldn't you want to spray the inside of the lense vs. the outside? That would be rather difficult, wouldn't it? ?:?

Here's a pic of mine before I shaved my side markers.

You spray the VHT to the outside of the lens. And no, it doesn't make a material difference in light output, they're just signals afterall.

That looks good Heus. I heard you can dilute black paint and get the same affect.

Yeah, I guess you'd have to do the outside afterall... Pretty scratch resistant and sticks well since you can't scuff the surface? I was thinking of doing everything from tailights to headlights if it worked well. If not, there's always paint remover, lol.

Hmmm..... Tinted windows too? ;D

If you put 8 coats on, then the light output will be reduced. But if you just go with a few coats, it won't be noticeable with the lights on.

No, you shouldn't scuff the surface, and no, there's no good way to remove NightShades from plastic or curved glass. I think it can be razor-scraped off flat glass.

BTW
That's not my car. ;)

Looks sharp! I may have to experiment since I blacked out the front of my Bronco.... (the grill used to be white)

msweb - I did the early turn signal mod (for the smaller front turn signals) and went with the white reflectors that I tinted with the VHT. Running amber bulbs in the blinkers, came out great. Thats about three coats IIRC.
