my question to you guys is: is there any of the original hardware that i need to use when installing my new bushings? i looked up the tech article about the removal but it was never implied that any of the old hardware is reinstalled. in the pics, it seems like all the parts that were used were new. also if i do need to reuse parts, where do i place the sawzall to cut them in half without cutting into the inner supports of the bushing? am i making this harder for myself than it needs to be? thanks guys!

You will not reuse any original parts. Best place to put the sawzall is back in the toolbox. Use a holesaw on the front four bushings (cut from bottom up) and a BFH on the rear four (pull old bolts mostly out, then beat bolt head down until bushing falls apart). You'll have them out in an hour.

sweet, thanks man! much appreciated! so, a holesaw? my nuts are rusted to the bolts. ive used every penetrating oil to loosen them up. can i cut the nut at the top where it meets the washer to free up the bolt? if i can, where does the holesaw come into to play?

Nuts? You may not have the factory bushings if you have nuts on there. They may just come right apart.

With the factory bushings two metal sleaves tend to rust together into one. With the holesaw you cut the flat part of the bottom sleave just where it bends in and up. I think about a 7/8" size.

I just couldnt never get the hole saw thing to work in my case %) but whatever will work for ya is good. also i used 9 inch blade seemed to be about the best length for mine. good luck

On my front 4, I just cut the bottom washer into 1/4ths with the grinder and pulled them apart. The back ones, I just stuck a long prybar in the frame and broke the things by force. My middle ones fell apart on their own. :)

Air Chisel

Was able to get an air chisel into all of my bushings to break them. I don't have a sawzall - but think that it would be hard to work it around in the tights spaces. It is a bitch of a job - probably one of the most frustrating items I had to deal with.

The only other comparison in frustrating, dirty jobs in your restoration would be getting the bushings out of the rear leaf springs ...
