Body lift "Check list"

Has anyone put togeter a "check list" of additional things (not included in the kits) that have to be done when you install a body lift? You know, like longer gas filler hoses, adjustments to steering column, etc,,,,

I can't help but think that, like everything else, it's a bit tougher than it sounds.

Thanks!

How big are you going, that will make a difference. I know I have run down a list in a few threads but it might be hard to search and find with all the threads with "body lift in them.

I got a 2 1/2 in body lift on my 71. I had to get a new steering linkage with dual universal joints and extend the brake lines from the master cylinder to the distribution block. For me (i got taken on the brake lines), it totaled about $500 extra bucks.

Well it really depends on how much lift your doing ...I left my stock or what I call 1/2 inch in place ..because I had 2, I could not get out ...then I added a 1 inch on top of that ..So I had too buy new bolts ...I had to come up with straps for my fan shroud too adjust it ....that is no problem...then I loosen my column before I started no problem here ....Just shake it and retighten it ...My clutch rod gave me a fit...it would not adjust ...one of those thing you have to take in and out 20 time to get the adjustment ...But it worked out fine ..Then the gap in the back of the truck looking at the bumper it. I hated the gap so I measured and had a piece of flat metal bent and cut ..Then screwed it down to the rear of the bed and it covers up the gap great ......I can just imgain what the gap looks like with a 4 inch lift ...So I guess you bend the long side longer ....

Heck if you do a 3" BL then get a rollpan like Heuss33 did and that would work perfect. I hate the gap left by body lifts but they sure do come in handy sometimes and can be covered up by aftermarket bumpers, etc. I run 1" integrated BLs from WH, they are real nice and still look fine with the stock bumper positions I think.

Going "2 inches

I;m planning on doing a 2" body lift to ultimately give me room for a ZF transmission. I have heard a million different things that mast be done in additon to the lift itself.
Like:
Raising the radiator
Changing the filler hoses
etc

Thanks

i've got a 2" on mine, and the steering shaft is at a bad angle. the rag joint is pretty jacked up. i'm planning on a flaming river shaft pretty soon.
anyways, keep in mind that a big body lift is going to put some strain on the lower steering shaft, particularly at the rag joint.

Since I put the 1" lift on I need to fix the twinstick cutout in the floor slightly.

2" lift on mine, I had to remove the fan shroud (will relocate if I get overheating problems, none yet), lengthen the c4 shifter linkage, adjust throttle linkage, cut hole bigger in the floor for the 4wd shifter, and longer rear brake lines. The brake lines may have worked, but I also put 1 1/2" lift blocks under the rear springs to cure saggy butt. The lift itself went in really easily, about 3 hours.
