My new 2" body lift looks great! But now I have steering problems
. The solid steering shaft no longer lines up with the steering box. Tom's Bronco has a quick / easy solution called a telescoping lower steering shaft (p/n 3614). The part will add $200 to your $90 body lift cost.
I started by disconnecting the old steering shaft from the steering box. You should do this before you do the body lift.
I measured the shortest distance of the new telescoping shaft and marked the old shaft from the steering box end up 16” to mark where to cut.
I cut the old shaft on the mark.
I slid the new shaft into place top and bottom.
I drilled the hole with a 5/16 in bit as instructed.
I slid in the bolt to hold the top and tighten the allen bolt on the bottom. Tighten the lock nut also.
I had to trim one of the other bolts to clear the wheel well.
This took me about 20 minutes and is a very easy fix.
