Curious, my could be faulty recollection of the '85 454 CC-Dually that I drove for an employer in '89 was a vacuum booster. Diesels got H-B and the gassers got vacuum, maybe?

That's what we want right..an "unstoppable" truck??!!! lol
As we used to say in bilwood R&D: "Brakes only slow you down!"

I have more questions than answers.

I have a 79 dually 454 that is hydro.

Picked up a hydro off a 84 diesel.

Wish I could remember what others I'd been around .. For some reason I thought all the dually's for GM are hydro...

M7 85 was gas and hydroboost. It was a flatbed, maybe that's why it was not vacuum?

C&C's did get different build-outs from the pick-ups.

Second email sent to Cerakote, no response from the first one.

My first car was a 1987 F250 4x4 diesel that had a vacuum booster. Wouldn't stop well at all in some cases; almost ran into the back of someone in stop and go traffic because there wasn't enough vacuum after having just accelerated.

Would have been an awesome truck if it had a turbo and hydroboost.

A little bit off topic but I had a '97 Ford diesel I ordered new with a vacuum booster brake system (diesels don't have vacuum so they have a vacuum pump). One day the pump failed and I went straight through a red light. I always thought I could hit the parking break or something but at the time I went straight through the red light.

Still interested in Cerakote...

used a product that is like wax you heat up the metal with a hair dryer in this case and then rub it on supposed to keep metal in natural cast color so far it hasnt rusted but not really tested with brake fluid either. i think eastwood carries it . ill look for the brand name tomorrow if anyone wants it

That actually sounds like a great idea.

Ok...I didn't specifically state which model, which year, which chassis, which engine....

I was referring to the model year I used....

Thanks.

Talked to Cerakote's tech guy after playing phone tag for 2 days, their Elite series or their H Series coatings are the recommendation. He said correctly applied the coating will have no problem with brake fluid. These are both oven cure products though, so that may not be what you wanted to do. I asked about a cast iron color and he laughed a little. I guess you'll just have to order that purple after all....
He did ask about sun exposure and I note that the H Series UV rating is only 3/5 stars, so long term there may be some fading or degradation. Didn't get the chance to follow thru on that, so I'll leave it up to someone else to ask.
