Brake master cylinder lines/bleeding

My quest to get my Bronco back on the road continues. After rebuilding the rear drums, I go to bleed the brakes, and the hose from the master cylinder to the distribution block/front brakes bursts. Of course none of this is available locally. Has anybody found lines from a different application that work? I guess I could make some up with loops instead, but if there is something that can be easily modified, I might try that.

Second, when I did try to bleed the brakes, I don’t seem to be able to do it through vacuum. The fronts I can understand, with a big hole in the hose, but I would think the rears would have still bled. I got a tablespoon or so, then nothing.

The Bronco has been sitting for some time, so I’m suspecting either the master cylinder, or the distribution block may be clogged. Pressing on the brakes gave me a pretty hefty spray through the hose for the front brakes, though.

If the line burst, I, personally, would replace them all. Especially since the lines under the truck would probably have a harder life.
You can get an inexpensive tube bender and a length of brake line that already has the flares and nuts on it and bend it to fit. Auto parts stores would have it. Napa would probably be the best place to start. A little linger won’t hurt. Just bend it to take up the excess.

Hi, you can't bleed the brakes until all the repairs are done.
Did you peel back the rubber caps on the wheel cylinders and check inside for dripping and rust?
I would fix the line, and as mentioned, maybe all the rubber lines are too old.
Then I would fill the master cylinder and one at a time open each bleeder screw and let it gravity bleed until the brake fluid drips out.
I would also bleed the heck out of it until nice clean and fresh brake fluid comes out of each wheel.

I replaced the MC to “proportioning valve” lines, and tried to replace the rear rubber line with a stainless I already had. Unfortunately I rounded off the nut at the frame hard line, even using a flare nut wrench. Going to replace that line tomorrow. I was really hoping to drive it today! The front rubber line was replaced with stainless braided line when I did the disk conversion.

The new stainless braided rear line is mounted to the axle, and hard lines to the rear brakes are installed. Just need to replace 5hat one hard line. I need to leave by 10am tomorrow, but hope to have it buttoned up before then!

Hi, if you can loosen the flare nut to the rear rubber line you may be able to reuse it even if the nut is rounded, as long as it can be tightened with a vise grip or adjustable wrench.or another tool.
Or I would cut the line as close to the connection as possible and you have to put a new flare nut on and make a new double flare. The tube must be cut "square" with a tubing cutter, not a hacksaw, and every auto parts store sell the replacement nuts.
If you do replace the line all the way to the front you will probably have to shorten the new 3/16 brake line and you will need a tubing cutter and double flare kit for that.

I’m just going to replace a section of line. It looks like it may be a standard 4’ section, but I do have tube cutters, benders an flare tools in case I need to cut it.
