Broken Lug on the front

Hey guys -

I'm working on replacing a broken lug stud on my front wheel. I've got the brake caliper off, but I'm hesitant to open up the hub etc. Am I going to need special tools etc. to get in here?

Just wondering what I'm getting myself into before I get beyond the point of no return. Any tips/instructions would be appreciated (newbie to this..)

Thanks!

snap ring pliers will make it easier to get the snap rings out.

Yeah, it "can" be done without 'em, but it's not worth it sometimes. Also a fine picking tool, like a pair of small screwdrivers or strong pics, for pulling out the larger outer ring-clip.
And the standard hub-nut wrench or wheel-nut socket (whatever you want to call it), that RV77 mentioned, is mandatory and should be in your tool supply anyway, if you are ever going to do your own work there.

And speaking of which, it sounds like perhaps it's been awhile since the wheel bearings have been serviced? Now's your chance. Get the hub socket and we'll walk you through the process if you don't have a book.
Worth it, if only for the piece of mind.

Thanks for the input guys! More to come. I didn't have the additional tools so I put the caliper back on today and will tackle it some time when I've got more time and tools...
