$44k.........

Is that what it went for???? Shut the front door. Poor bastard that bought that%) . I guess it is an EB and we all love them, but I know none of us would have paid half of that... In these times of economic uncertainty you can count on some shmuck to stimulate the economy;D

I was in phoenix over the weekend and although I didn't stop, I craned my neck as I drove past the tent on loop 101. Saw the bronco sitting at the end of one of the rows as I did. It looked nice from 200 yds away, but I would have never guessed it would go for over 40 grand. Maybe I'll have to change gears with my build and try to make it look moderately nice....

I've attended Barrett Jackson a few times (mainly scoping it out to try to sell my old VW bug there, which I decided against), and while there are a lot of different levels of quality there, all it really takes to sell an average car for more than it's worth is a nice paint job and nice interior. There are a LOT of buyers there who either don't care, or don't know enough to actually check a vehicle over for flaws.

Make no mistake, there are some AMAZING cars that go through these auctions, especially Barrett Jackson. There are also some amazingly average cars that, whether due to cache or simply location, draw prices that some of us can't figure out. How that particular Bronco went for $40K + buyers commission is beyond me other than guessing that the buyer assumed it must be cherry &/or special to be at BJ.....simply not true.

IMO, some of the best buys can be had in the parking lots at these auctions, not going across the block.

That bronco was owned by a guy here in Lafayette, LA. I got to check it out when it was getting some engine work done at B&M 4x4. It was nice but not $44k nice...especially with the airbrushed lightning bolt dash.
