Unfortunately I'm in the middle of a build so don't have a rig to go in the rig.;D Last rig I had (20+ years ago) was a Heathkit HW-2036A 2m. (which I still have).

I use an Alinco 2m handheld in and out of the daily driver but pretty much an HF guy.

73's KA1QNS

:D
73's kg7iiz monitoring on the side..

I'm running a Kenwood TM221A 2M mounted on top of a CB radio. This is on a removable stock coming up off the floor next to the twin sticks. I use a mag mount on the roof for the 2M and have a coil mount adapted to the rear tire rack body mount for the CB.

I use a cheap Chinese hand held duel band that I got to toss in a backpack for emergencies. I’ve never signed on with my Ham license but listen in to a few of the local repeaters now and then.

I do use GMRS (WQOJ953) quite a bit but that's a different animal.

<edit> Might just well add I have a VHF business frequency too (WPOC620)

Not much of a hobby really. Maybe someday I'll actually sign on. %)

Thats alright, I haven't been on in a while, probably a couple years. Station is currently dismanteled and no antenna up. I come and go with the hobby, been licensed since 78'.

That's cool. One of my brothers is into it and I have a couple close friends that are too. On of my friend is the one that talked me into getting the license and keeping a irritable with me in hiking and camping trips. He got into a bind in a remote area that his cel didn't work but was able to hit a repeater and got help.

Ki6CYF I run a Icom V8000 mobile and a Icom hand held. My antenna is on a plate off the back of my rig (on the swing away tire rack). Most CB places sell a plate that mounts around the front fender. It screws the the fender under the hood and comes out between the hood and fender. You could use that to mount a Ham antenna. My F350 has one installed.

I have several 2 meters and some 440 rigs but hard to find others to run with. All of the old men I ran with are gone.

I run ICOM and Kenwood, and some old Radio shack handhelds. I have a 60 watt amp for the 2 meter rigs.

I also have my dads HF rigs along with a few amps. I have a 2 kw amp of his which is awesome.

Just picked this up for the Bronco to work the UHF GMRS channels we use and some 440 repeaters in the area. It's a pretty neat little radio and can be programmed right from the front of the radio. They make a VHF version too. If I can find one I might get it for 2M use.

Nice, looks ergonomic and simple with just the basics. Did you find a spot for the antenna you want to use?

Saw a few dual band unit's on CL i'm contemplating. You can always find apretty good rigs there.

I'd love to put some sort of vintage 2M in my EB when restoration is complete. My main concern is antenna location. I won't drill any exterior body holes for it, and don't want the cable or magnet of a mag mount rubbing paint off the roof. I'm considering some sort of passenger side hood type mount...possibly. Looking for options.

I have not come up with a good location yet. I have a mag mount I can use but I think I'd like some sort of spring mounted antenna on the right rear someplace. I can do something off the tire carrier it needed.

It is a nice little and super simple to use unit. I've hit a couple repeaters that are about 55 miles away with just a imple 1/4 wave antenna so far.

Do you have a stock tire carrier? I ran a 1/4 wave back there on my 76 for years. It worked well and was out of the way.

I do have the rear carrier, but as a rule, those don't work very well...and my hinges are pretty well lubed up!

My latest radio toy. Again, not Ham but a GMRS repeater for local coverage (about 25 miles I'm hoping).
I have an antenna for it but still need to get the feed line.

The thing I like about GMRS is that I can have my whole family on one call sign vs. Ham each person needs a call sign.

What type of antenna do you have mounted on it?
