Hi group or should I say LIFE SAVERS!!

I have a 1968 Bronco, lifted with 35's, everything was fine NO SHAKES at speed, but just got done doing a C4 conversion, disc brake conversion and NOW the bronco shakes like the front wheels are going to fall off, it 100% SCARES THE CRAP out of ya or did me. The front wheels are going back and forth, crazy thing.

I do NOT have a steering dampner, is this what is needed or?

THANKS GROUP!

i just did a disc conversion on a '67 F-100 and now it has death wobble too. i'm going to change his track bar bushings, that's the problem majority of the time. i just can't figure out why doing a disc conversion would trigger death wobble. there is play in the track bar bushings, but why didn't it do this before?

sounds like we have a similar situation.

BTW, i took the steering dampener off mine and i have no problems.

Mine did this when I got it awhile back. What had happened right after I lifted it 2.5in was the trackbar bolt on the top hollowed (ovaled) out the bracket. So certain speeds would cause it to bounce around in the bracket. You may just check to see if its that, should be easy to check. If it is, just get a drop down bracket and all will be well again :)

A steering dampener will not fix it. Check everything and make sure you got it tight. My guesss is loose wheel bearings. But an out of balance tire or rotor could do it too.

Check your trac-bar bushings!

Same thing happened to me, and because It was my first-ever problem with the Bronco, I took it to a suspension shop to have it diagnoised ( and took the guy a prompt 45 seconds to figure it out).

Trac Bar bushings were all worn out. I put in some Polyurathane bushings and the problem never returned.

As it turns out, I have some poly bushings from an old trac bar( that is no longer used) I would be willing to send out for the cost of shipping. I am unsure if poly bushings ever wear out like rubber does. Comments?

urethane bushings WILL wear out, yes. that's what he has in there right now.
My eurathane lasts about 9 months before the wobble comes back. I just know to replace the bushings every winter.

Here ya go and by the way, I think it's the track bar bushings too and you just need to replace them, maybe even get an adjustable track bar with new bushings included.

What type of disc conversion did you do? Just something else to think about is the spindle shims. They are used for correcting camber. If you didn't know they were there and either put them on wrong or not at all, you will affect the alignment which probably enhanced other smaller problems as trac bar bushings. Make sure the front end is aligned well, and everything else is tight and it should correct the death wobble.

Man times its just wheel weight that fall off the rim. Mine came off 1# worth and I couldn't drive over 15mph without it bouncing all over. I got the tires re-ballanced and it ran great at freeway speeds.

here's a new one guys, i figured out what was causing that '67 F-100 to have DW. he has the old school indy wheels (9.75x16.5 5 lug) and the center caps weren't letting the wheels bolt to the rotor flange properly thus the wheels were wobbling.

just something else to check.

It's almost always they last thing you did that causes the problem.
