Bronco transfer case repair in So Cal recommendation

I may be needing some work on my Dana 20 xfer case. It's really outside my expertise, so I want to take it to someone with experience. I'm in So Calif and I'm looking for a recommendation of who I can take it to. I've used ASC up in Venice a few times and have been happy with them. However, several weeks ago, I tried to get an estimate from them for some front/rear differential work and they never replied. I even went up there and left a note for the estimate guy (who wasn't in) and still no reply. I think it may be because the lot was full. You couldn't hardly move in the lot due to the number of Broncos that were there. I suspect they may have more work than they can handle. If anyone can make a recommendation, it would be appreciated. I'm in Orange Co, but I can drive a fair way if I need to. Thanks.

They are so cheap why not just swap it for another. I sold my good take out unit for $50 when I put in an NP205.

Well, a swap out may be OK, but I don't know that it won't have a similar problem or worse. Mine works fine, except for the twin stick operation. I think I'd rather just get it operating properly if I can. To 69broncofun, I see them from time to time on Craigslist and as pcf_mark is saying, they usually don't go for a large amount of money. I would try to avoid shipping, I guess.

I bought a rebuilt unit from JBG. Price wasn't bad at all and neither was shipping. It is small and can go UPS. They have 10% off through 12/22. You can ship your old one back to them. I didn't ask them at the time but I am sure they can remove the pills for twin stick operation. While you will have to wait for the unit to come, you won't have any down time during the swap.

You might try Tri County Gear in Pomona. They work on the other popular 4 x 4 which has a very similar Dana transfer case. Its near the 71 and the 10fwy. They have been there for at least 20 years. Never had any work done there. Never saw any feed back on this site good or bad. I just bought Dana 20 parts. Google them and give then a call. I think I saw a couple of Broncos there at one time.

A D20 is pretty hard to screw up! I say order a rebuild kit, download the factory manual (available here somewhere), download the instructions on adding preload and dive in. Even if you have to buy a few tools you'll save money AND learn a few things. You could literally rebuild a D20 in a couple of hours.

For Transfer case, front & rear diff., I recommend john at All Four Wheel Drive. He has moved, so, it is a little bit of a drive, (Corona).

He done my all my stuff over the years and he is an EB owner.

If the t-case is working and quiet with clean oil then it sounds like you need a mechanic to get your twin sticks working? Can't help you there.

Not sure if he does t-case but probably. For diffs and stuff south bay 4x4 is a good place. He's helped me quite a bit with info and loaned me tools. I think his name is frank. He's on rosecrans blvd in Hawthorne. Maybe 3/4 mile east of the 405.

Thanks, guys.....good suggestions, even the "do it yourself" idea.....haha. I did think about that, but I guess I'm not ready to tackle it just yet.

How do twin sticks "not work"? They are just levers, right? Hook them up and shift. If they won't shift, something is wrong within the case.
