today, i pulled the interior to inspect the floor pans. im gonna have to do a little work on them. also bought a complete 1990 5.0 engine with serpentine pulleys. ill need to find out if my c4 torque convertor will work on this late model engine and if the mustang stock headers will work and how the distributor and alternator will wire up and if the serpentine set up will fit in between the radiator.what about the flywheel ? any advice ? thanks.

C4 T/C should bolt up. Ensure you use the 5.0 flexplate and not the older 302 flexplate. The balance on later 5.0 is different.

Stock headers will fit but the outlet on the pass side will be very close to the framerail (it will turn down right into it). Should be enough room to be creative with exhaust.

Serp setup will fit with the radiator. I did this on mine when i swapped Mustang serp on the 351W. I have a aftermarket aluminum rad that is thicker than stock and had to move it foward a little. With a stock radiator, you will get even more room since it is thinner.

For the radiator hoses, run the crossover tube for the lower and the GTO (68 GTO w/400) upper.

yes , early model 302's are 28 oz. balance and late model are 50 oz. balance. the 5.0 came from an aod mustang . so you guys know that the aod flywheel will work ? next week, im starting on installing the hp60 front and 10.25 rear and stretching the wheelbase as much as possible under the stock frame. the rear will be 4 link . i will be posting lots of pics soon. thanks for the help guys.

ordered some cage 5.5 flex coils yesterday. pulled the top off last night. today i pulled the dashpad , tailgate, windshield wipers and motor, rear bumper, gas tank and skid plate. also pulled both one tons from my 79 and put the 1/2 tons back in it. tomorrow i will dovetail the rear. at first i wasnt going to but after pulling out all the interior i discovered the rust in the rear was very bad. after careful planning it will be best to cut out the rust and pull in the quarters and weld it all back up. next week i will begin to install the axles and fullcage , then the 5.0 engine. after that ill service the c4 and t-case and install a trans cooler. if i get all that done in two weeks , ill still have a bunch more to do.

You are making me feel like a lazy pos.

sorry. im taking a break until friday. then its time to pull the stock axles. and install the front. after the front is in , the rear can start going in while adjusting the ride height off the front. then the full rollcage, rock sliders, seats, harnesses, toolbox. then ill work out the driveshafts. after all that is finished ill pull the engine and start to drop the 5.0 in. and service the c4 and install a trans cooler. hopefully the c4 is in great cond. i pulled the stick and smelt the fluid. it did not smell burnt. i will have to work on this everyday until its finished. im trying to get it ready before the last weekend in july. me and a bunch of guys over on fsb.com are going to tellico that weekend. ;D
