C4 Floor Shifter Advise

I'm converting to a C4 and have decided to go with a floor shifter for several reasons (mainly cost and ease for my fiance to drive). The truck is going to be used mostly onroad now. I'm looking for an easy/smooth shifter that will be easy for her to shift. I see ones from Hurst, Lokar, and B&M. Any recommendations?

Will the shifter use the same hole in the tunnel as the 3spd manual floor conversion does?

Thanks.
Robert

I have the B&M Mega Shifter. You can mount it pretty much wherever you want to. But, I don't think the location of the 3 speed shifter hole is the best solution.

The B&M Mega Shifter is a ratchet shifter. Takes getting used to. Once you are used to it. You'll LOVE IT.

Pics to follow.

I chose to put the shifter on my tranny cover. There, it allowed me to keep my Tuffy console between my seats.

The whole the old 3 speed floor shifter used to be. Still need to patch that hole.

I have the Lokar and I love it...very clean looking. I still have to wire up the reverse lights and neutral safety switch.

We have the B&M Sport Shifter. It does not have the "ratchet" feature like the Megashifter, and it does not have the small lever to pull when changing gears. My son lost the fingers on his right hand in Iraq, so we needed something easy for him to use.
I mounted the shifter in a scavenged police radio console

I also have the Lokar. Nice shifter and very positive shifting.

Mkaenel - Let me know if you figure out the NSS/Reverse lights on it. I have the painless harness and looked up the wires marked for the reverse lights and no joy.

Thanks for the help and great pics!

What about Art Carr? Wild Horses has that shifter for $200 + $65 for the cover - any pros/cons on this shifter?

Thanks again.

Here's some pics of my B&M Truck Megashifter. It replaced a Hurst shifter that I absolutely hated. (It had an extra switch on the side for the reverse lockout requiring 2 hands to use) The megashifter can be used in ratchet mode or can be shifted directly to the gear desired by pulling the lever before shifting. Keep in mind that not all of the shifters come with position indicators or neutral switch and backup light switches.

It's a great shifter. I've used one in my truck for many years. Elegant, simple, and bulletproof. Some folks don't care for the "gate rowing" to get through the gears, but that's part of the charm of it for me. You can easily modify the gate plate if so desired - plenty of rockcrawlers have done that for easy toggling between forward/reverse. Many folks do some slight mods to the cable bracket down on the trans for good cable routing around the t-case. It's also versatile in terms of mounting options. I've attached photos of several options below.

Hey Robert, Most of the ones shown so far will require your lady to pull up on a lever(small T-handle) to go past Rev. to Park. I had a nice Hurst Pro-matic in an old show car, that my wife drive alot...she loved it. Most shifters will have that lock-out feature required for drag racing. Later,Chuck

The blue 72 I got had an Art Carr shifter in it. Really didnt think I would like it so I stole the auto collum from my trail project and decided to give it a try first. the maiden voyage was knoxville and I aint took it out yet. I like it alot so I'm gona change the collum again.

Yes. It's the equivalent of the button that is found either on top of or on the side of most any stock floor shifter. Or the equivalent of pulling a column shifter towards you before shifting it. I wouldn't let my wife (or anyone else for that matter) drive mine if it didn't have one.
