Bronco Guru
I have a freshly rebuilt C4 with less than 3000 miles (built last summer). I went to drive it this morning and first thing while accelerating out the drive way when shifting to 2nd it revved then went directly to 3rd very abruptly. When I manually put it in second it went to neutral. 1st and 3rd work fine. I turned around and came home and checked the obvious, fluid level is good, not burned. I then took a look at the band adjustments the passenger side (low reverse?) looked fine, but the driver side (intermediate) was loose and the lock nut was about 1/4-3/8" out. I did a search and found this old thread in the archives. I figured I would try to adjust the intermediate band in case it just came loose, but I can turn the stud completely in by hand freely. So it sounds like I broke the intermediate band does this sound right? I drove it all day yesterday since my DD is in for service and everything worked fine although it seemed like there was a very slight flare during the 1-2 shift.
My bronco has been eating parts this summer and getting to be quite expensive. I still haven't fixed every thing that broke from my last wheeling trip a couple weeks ago (rear third member, rear R & P gears, rear driveshaft, both stub shafts, and front Detroit) I still have to replace or fix the Detroit and replace my spare stubs. To make things worse I just got through replacing everything that broke Memorial weekend (rear R & P gears, rear driveshaft, bent rear housing, and broke both front locking hubs). I really don't drive my bronco like an animal either I typically baby it around. Most of the recent problems were due to running a POS Currie High Pinion which is now scrap metal. I went to a standard 9+ nodular case and 35 spline ARB.
Thanks for any help and for allowing me to vent my frustrations:-[
