I hope i am not the only one that has done this but when i was changing the filter and being very careful not to drop the ball on the spring, I dropped the little @&$@' thing. Can you get one of these from a parts store or do i need to go to a transmission shop? Also, the filter that I bought from the parts store has a round hole with a groumet in it where the one that is in there has a bigger cut out,the side closest to the pan. Will the one with the round hole work?

I may have been mistaken when i thought I dropped a ball or something when I took the filter off. The spring is sitting on the filter and then there is a pin of some kind that sits in the spring that has a cupped end on it that goes up into the transmission, is there anything that sits in the cupped part like a ball or something or does the cup part just go up into the transmission.

The big end of the Throttle limit valve goes in first, with the smaller end towards the spring. The tab on the filter holds it all in place.

The filter you bought with the grommit is the stock Bronco filter. The grommit holds the extension tube that is used with the stock Bronco C4 trans pan. The other filter you have is the generic car type filter, that has the shallower pan. It would be a good idea to get the extension tube so you trans won't suck air on a steep incline.

That is some great news. I sure thought there was a ball or something that sat in the cup (big end) between it and the transmission. Now i can put it back together. Thank you very much for the responce!!!
