C4 valve body springs got mixed

I had all the parts and valve body all cleaned and was putting all the valves back along with a shift kit, when a gust of wind caught the towel they were laying on and mixed up the springs.😡 I am pretty sure they are all in correct, but was wondering if someone sold a complete spring kit that is color coded?

Most of the springs can only go in one location and I already had a few in before the wind got me. I am not sure about the kick down circuit spring, the accumulator circuit a the top valve behind the cover with the bolts.

I am not to concerned about the accumulator circuit because this valve can be disabled to obtain firmer shifts.

I initially had a weak spring in the kick down valve, but I think I got the correct one in🤞

This diagram shows length, width and wire size in inches. The other numbers are tension in lbs and ounces at a specific length.

Strange, the actual measurements are off. Example. The big spring on the chart shows it should be 1.727x559x.049 and my big spring is 1.93x.57x.49. It seems all the lengths are off. Maybe different years or the previous owner changed them out?

I don’t know who rebuilt this tranny, but all the bands and fiber disk look brand new, but the end play was way out of spec and I had to use a big impact to get the bell housing and front pump off along with a torch

Could be that a performance shift kit has been added to your VB at some point which would change certain spring characteristics, size & color.

Thanks for the help, between your help and the Bad Shoe video I am pretty sure all is good. Once I get her running and if a certain shift is off, I know how to fix now.

It’s good to learn new skills
