Is there supposed to be transmission fluid in the tail housing of a C6? I didn't think there was, but I'm hoping I was wrong because I've got a massive leak between the tranny and tail housing.I did not use a gasket or sealer there because I didn't think fluid transferred. I'd rather just install slide the tail housing back a half inch, seal it with sealer, and bolt it back together than take it all apart to replace a shaft seal.

Thank you, I advance!

yes there is fluid in the tailhousing. seals keep it out of the transfer case and gaskets keep it off the floor.
