I would like to see some pics of broncos with stock bumpers and the cactus smasher bumper/push bars installed. I know they were an option on Stroppes and you can buy a repo from the dealers. I was thinking of going with a vintage/ racer theme with one of my trucks. But before I drop the coin on one I would like to see some pics from different angles. Show me what you got.

An original home brew 2" angle iron cactus and rock smasher. Actually hit a rock one time that dead stopped the Bronco from 10 mph. No damage to it or the frame mounts.

Bump up post.

Also lets you put the boat in the lake going forward. ;)

I have a repro one on my 78 from Hard Knox. Love it! I also got a real Stroppe Cactus Smasher off Craigs List a couple of years ago BUT (a couple of big buts) it was made by the successor company to Stroppe - not Bill Stroppe - and it's actually for a Blazer. I'm planning on putting it on the 72 I just bought and to do that I'll just need to modify the attachment points.

That said, I think the Cactus Smasher is the best looking push-bar/grille-guard to put on an early Bronco. Google Stroppe Cactus Smasher Pics and you'll pull up a bunch of photos.

Here is the Hard Knox reproduction on the 78.

Ran one on my LUBER for awhile with a narrowed stock bumper, also had the Stroppe braces on the back side.

I like the look. My only concern is the upper bar blocks the Ford letters. Mine are not the vibrant red that some have.

Mine are the standard raised letters rolled black. There is some "blockage" of the FORD lettering. No concern for me.

Buy one from Andrew at Baja Broncos Unlimited. Some of the others aren't quite right in terms of shape, etc. if that's important to you.

I really like the look of the white push bar and white bumper. The stroppes look cool with the orange bar and chrome bumper. The truck I was going to put it on is gold with chrome bumpers, I guess the black would look good? I am getting ahead of myself with this anyway. I still need to finish the upgrades to my 67 before I start working on the 70!

If I had a semi stock Bronco, and I don't, I would 100% get the cactus masher with stock bumper. Its the most classic look for a Bronco. It just looks right.
