So I bought this Bronco because I had a wrecked 2000 Explorer sitting in my yard. It was in need of rehab. The plan was to drop the explorer engine in the bronco and make a nice trail rig. When I get it home, I notice the frame is messed up. So I pull the body and fix the frame. Now the trouble starts. I say to myself, as long as I have the body off, I might as well blast and paint the frame. Now I'm thinking it would be a good time to replace all the lines and rubber. I think I'm in the "while I'm here" loop.

Definitely the best time to do all of those things...

There are only three ways to exit the loop...

1) Substitute adequacy for perfection
2) Time
3) Money

Methods 2 and 3 are blended... You always need some amount of both.

Let me know who you are going to buy the parts from, so I can get some stock in the company.

Fast forward five years and $20k later: Guys, I'm almost done with my Bronco!

It's a very slippery slope, and if you're a perfectionist or OCD there is no hope.

Bronco Rebuild

When I look at your Bronco it brings a smile to my face imagining not only the fun that bronco has allready brought to past owners but also the fun still yet to have. Good luck Brother its worth the trouble.

Actually I already purchased the sheet metal. I was in Colorado the other day so I stopped by bronco hut. Rest of the parts are coming off the wrecked explorer. So if my calculations are right, I would be able to build this whole thing for around $3,000. Just kidding, this is my third complete rebuild, I know what's involved. The only question is how deep to go. If I go trail rig, there's more mechanical stuff to do. If I go street rig, there's more paint/body work.

You got it bad. There's no going back. It's not a bad habit to have compared to others.

You no longer have a trail rig. Go Big Now.

I think you're right by the time I blast and paint the frame, then replace all the rusted sheet metal, new engine and transmission, im half way there. The only question left is how expensive of paint I should use.

To be saved implies that there is something to be rescued from. I think you're on the wrong forum for that question :) :p
