Can I use the splined sleeve on my old steering box as an adapter?

I'm in the middle of a 4x4x2 install and have realized that my old box has the larger input shaft. I'm trying avoid buying a 90$ steering yoke. It looks like I can punch the pin, slide that sleeve off and possibly use it to fit my steering yoke? I'm not sure if it has interior splines, that may be the deal breaker. If that doesn't work, Does anyone make a sleeve adapter that you can slide over the smaller shaft? It would be cool if they did. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Having trouble attaching photos, but was able to upload a relevant picture as my avatar.

Ahh, The old upload as avatar ploy! Actually very clever. Good idea!

I don’t have an answer, and I’m not quite sure about everything you’re asking, but some other pertinent information might help. For example what year Bronco are you working with, and was it power steering originally or manual steering? Sounds like power steering since it had the larger 13/16 by 36 spline input shaft from the sound of it.
But which type of lower joint do you have? The old tulip style coupler, a rag joint, or a cardan style U joint set up?

Those things might not even be pertinent, but I figured I’d ask anyway just to get it out-of-the-way.
I don’t even know if the pin you’re speaking of is simply a retainer for an outer sleeve on the shaft, or not, but I have a feeling it’s more involved than that and likely the two don’t swap.

As far as images you can also use your “garage“ and “gallery“ functions for uploading images without cost. But the best and most effective way is still to become a contributor for $12 a year. That way you can upload to your discussion directly from your device.
You can also use other image hosting sites, but many ran a foul of the dreaded photobucket ruse a couple of years ago and are a little leery of that these days.

Good luck!

100%. I am sure the truck or your life is well worth the 90 bucks you are trying to save especially in the steering or brakes area.

I don't think you can swap it around. The torsion spring/spool valve is in that area. I recall someone once drilled it to pin the yoke and had a massive oil leak, because they drilled into an oil passage under the splines.

That is not a sleeve, it is a gun drilled shaft, the pin retains the torsion bar that is inside of it. So no you can’t remove it to use as an adapter.
