Hi Guys,

So Ford called me back, I'm attempting to get a build sheet out of them and they couldn't figure out my vin plate.

It's a 1966 and I've only got the vin on the driver's side kick pannel.

Anyway, below is what I've got so far.

Vin Plate:

1. VIN: U15NL864586
U15=Wagon N=289 L=Michigan 864586=May 1966

2.092 [No color code] U150 798 C B8
092=92inch wheel base U150=Wagon 798=??? C=3 speed B8=3.50 LS

3. 712765 They said, "Special Order" but didn't know what 2765 meant.
71=Los Angeles 2765=???

Anybody know what these codes mean?

Please respond when you've got time.

Thanks,
Chris

798 is trim/body code-bucket front seats (7) in a wagon body (98)
B8 is 2780lb rear axle with limited slip and 3.50 gears
712765 is special order delivered to LA area. May not have color code because of the special order.

Thank you Viperwolf1, any idea what the rest of the "special order" number means?

It's just a sequential number for the order. The 2,765th one for that DSO in that year. Ford or Marti are the only ones that can tell you anything about the order.

Special Order to the LA area, eh? Hmmm, be cool if it was a special Stroppe prototype, or something to one of the other race shops/dealers in the area. Maybe a Fairway Ford race build that never got built?
Can think of all sorts of potential mayhem being planned in that area in '66!

The possibilites are endless unless you have more clues to go on. I know of a '67 ordered to an LA Ford dealer with a T-bird color and therefore a blank code and a 6 digit. So could be just the paint, or could be more.
