Canadian Early Bronco VIN?

hi all
Im looking at an auction for a highly modified early Bronco that is for sale in Canada.
It’s a 1/2 cab but the VIN is unusual and not the expected U15/U13 etc
Did Canadian Broncos have different VIN #s?

That sounds like a reassigned VIN number, typically used in our state for replacement frames or retitled/kit vehicles.
I ran into that problem a couple days ago trying to retitle and out of state W/lost title. Oregon DMV told me I needed to get an assigned VIN. I refused based on not having to do it under the same circumstance last month with a different Bronco.
Long story short, I went back to the same DMV several hours later, got a different person (she was a 4X enthusiast), and she ran it right through, no problem.......

If it’s from BC I called ICBC about my bronco cause my VIN had a tag on it. Apparently their system doesn’t like old VIN number cause they’re too short. I was told because I could prove my VIN was good and I had the paperwork I was good to go. But he said if it popped up stolen or a variety of other thing I would have be getting a BC assigned VIN. That’s even with the title In hand.

Weird, gotta be an assigned VIN as stated above, I currently have two in BC registered and have had others prior. Never had an issue insuring them the original VIN with icbc.

Mine is free and clear with the original VIN as well. Just when I bought it the lady that was doing the transfer said there was a note on the VIN. I called ICBC VIN department and told him what was happening. He looked it up and was like yeah sometimes the system automatically pops that up with the old VINs. He said he removed the note from mine and I’m good to go. He just stated that if another vehicle with the same VIN came across as stolen or something I could run into an issue. What most likely happened is the paperwork for the OP VIN was lost and had to have the title redone which may require an assigned VIN. Lots of possibilities and we’re just speculating.

same here! I had to register 2 early bronco VIN numbers last year- BOS was all I had and needed

I live in BC and that's a BC assigned vin number. The original vin would fine but it was either a rebuilt vehicle without papers , off the road for so long the paperwork is to old or no paperwork at all.
The vehicle goes through a safety inspection and once passed a new vin is assigned.
