My reply to his lack of reply before I posted on classic:

Man, what a response, I ask a real question and you did not even answer it. If you are a betting man, I will bet you will not get a real bid on the bronco at that price, especially when you put everything original-anyone that knows ebs, will catch the roll bar, bumper etc. THAT makes me wonder what else is changed, covered up etc.

his attempt to reply-I know of no where else this would have come from and it got me for a min.-I will admit, I went to "My ebay" and it was still active!!
Needless to say I did not click on the link!!!

Are you sure this was a response from him? I kind of doubt it as I've seen this identical email on more than one occasion which I've turned in as fraudulent. Probably coincidence that you received it at the same time.

You could be correct Saddleup. However, I have received tons of bogus notices purporting to be from eBay and none were that threatening nor alluded to some kind of 'violation'. Many declared that if I did not update or respond to this or that request, my account would be disabled, but of the literally 100s I have received, none looked like the one Karl got. So..I would err on the side of 'not coincidence'; eBay wants/encourages ANYTHING like that to be reported to them in any event.

"VERY nice early bronco. I have been looking for a halfcab for my wife for several months. Noticed your description said "everything original" -the roll bar was not available from Ford, the rear bumper/hitch was not factory and it is missing the factory hub caps. Anything else changed on the rig? Is the original air cleaner still on it? Just curious before I bid."

We should all copy and send him this same email %)

Like I said above I have recieved the exact same email on more than one occasion and I haven't had an Ebay interaction in many months. I get some of the others you mentioned sent to me as well which I also report regularly. I'm not going to try to compete regarding the number of these types of emails I get each day except to say that it is a daily occurance for me and it has been for a few years now. I know that there are only a small percenage of people that have to deal with as much or more of it than I do and you may be one of those that is part of that small percentage.

I got a notice today that looked just like the one posted. I had received the same one a couple weeks ago and turned it in. It turned out to be a fake....

*******ATTENTION***********

DO NOT respond to the email you received regarding Ebay.......It WAS NOT from Ebay. I repeat it was not from ebay.

I got caught up in that damn thing a few months back and it took me several months to clear it up along with several hundred dollars lost, after they idiots got into my paypal account and stole my money.

It is a server that picks up on certain ebay transactions, emails to seller when your not bidding, etc. I don't know for sure what red flags you but that is my best guess.

A friend of mine was bidding on a bow. I went in to view the bow and then sent my friend a joking email throught the auction......I started receiving these emails the NEXT day. If you even open the attachments or links, you may already be HAD!

Do not open it, just send it to ebay's security department, spoof@ebay.com and good luck.

If the guy is an ass just let it go, there is no need to spam him to death.

Reasons to hound this guy:
1. He gives good hearted, helpful people like us a bad name as EB owners.
2. One of us might actually bid on it if he provided the correct information and level of detail we desire as discrimnating EB owners, however I doubt it since he's asking $17k+.
3. He might learn that when a potential bidder asks a legit question he should take time to answer it properly.
4. It's just fun and helps to pass the time.

Compete?..for what?.and why? I said:

1) you might be correct.
2) I had not seen a spoof that looked like that one.
3) Any suspected spoof needs to be sent to eBay's attention and they have a dedicated department set up to handle that.

Sheesh...

2 reasons not to hound him

1. We are adults.

2. What is more likely to make us look like asses? a) his response to questions? or b) spaming him because we don't like his responses?

Related story (could be titled ":There are a lot of idiots on eBay"

Guy advertised a freshly turned "351m/400 crank". Okee fine..so several of us that specialize in building 400 and 400 strokers ask the guy: "Well which is it...351m or 400??" He got all irate and nasty immediately and stated that we obviously did not know anything about that motor series..it was a 351m/400 crank..period." Needless to say..no bids.

It might all be in the wording as well. You have one setence claiming to have the vehicle "painted inside and out", then the next saying everything is original. Obviuosly a contridiction. Gives me the impression he is speaking about the body panels, not the entire vehicle.
I learned on a debate board that you need to pick and chose your words very carefully. As how you write them will not always be how they are read. Works visa-versa as well. This guy is probably thinking you are bunch of smart a.. punks. As in his mind he has been very clear about what was written. He likely posting all your questions on another board, just like we are here.
I also could be wrong and he is a complete moron, but I am trying to give him the benefit of doubt. LOL

I asked to see some of the common rust areas........inner fenders, door posts and kick panels........
Also asked him about the bumpers and roll bar,
told him that for this money it would have to be the RIGHT truck.......I wasn't sure his was it.
Oh btw Bill, I sent a guy with 400 issues to you..........
Someone told him it was a junk motor............
Well, time to get back to work.......
Good luck in your search Karl!

Just got this in response.......

I am listing this for my father-in-law. I personally don't know a whole lot about this vehicle. I have it described as he told me. He has told me that he does have the wheel covers and that it has the factory radio in it also. The pics that are listed are what he gave me. As for the interior it looks very sharp. I will try to get some pics and add them. Thanks for looking.

Seems like a more reasonable response than you got Karl......
Maybe he is catching on..... ;D

Geez Karl...looks like he is a reasonable guy after all. What did you do to make him so crabby? ;D

All is well that ends well. And it is always tough to sell a vehicle for someone else, particularly if it is one that is going to require you to have some detailed familiarity with the 'breed'.
