Not salvageable, but have any of you ever seen this? It's the rear main body of a Holley 600 cfm.

I don't see anything but a layer of gasket covering the cavity that all 4bbl Holleys have in both the front and rear of the main body.

The gasket is already completely removed in that pic. Those pieces sitting on the towel are flakes of aluminum. The gasket is not in the pic, but it was blue. I'll go get a better pic of it.

We get that type of corrosion on are trailers doors at work, starts on the edges and eats away the aluminum.

Welcome to the world of ethanol destruction. I see that kind of thing every day and I'm sick of it..even when in most cases I'm being paid to fix it.

Was this a zinc or aluminum Holley? In that I haven't bought a new Holley in 30yrs., because I just buy used and rebuild them, all my 4bbls have large cavities in the front and rear of the main body. Are any other parts corroding like that?
The sad part of the ethanol issue is that we all have to pay the subsidy and only the corn farmers benifit. The rest of us get the shaft, with low quality gasoline.

It's an aluminum body, but it's one of the oddball Holley carbs that did not have externally adjustable floats. It has run flawlessly on three vehicles over the past eight years....until last Sunday. :(

Yes the Bain to most aluminum parts. It destroys small engines and large engines alike. I have a friend who pays a premium to buy ethanol free gas for his boat and he usually brings along an extra can or two just to have ethanol free fuel for his small engines.

He'll I have read articles that state it is more expensive to process the ethanol than the savings found by "discounting" the gasoline price.

I called Holley and this carb was made during a manufacturing time that put out some bad castings. I'm sending it to them today, and they will inspect for free replacement. I'll keep you all informed!

I was going to tell you to call Holley! My Dad had one on his Heep that did that it was awful. Finally I took it apart and it was like dust! Called Holley, sent to them, they sent us a new one!

Heep still sucks but at least it runs better.

Yea, and it had a 2006 casting date. Ten years old and they are sending me a new one. I'm impressed!

That is awesome that they replaced it even though it was an 09. Good job Holley.
