Such an awesome story of perseverance being rewarded! Congrats!

I know of a few sitting and have never got the gumption to try and figure out the owners. Your story has inspired me so maybe Ill make a few trips this fall. I know of a similar one out in WV that is way far off the road buried behind some stuff in an area that it may be questionable knocking on someones door.

Great job! The 77 looks great.

I have a house up in VA as well and travel up and down I81 twice a year. I have seen a few from a distance while traveling in the area. I think I missed this one though.

UPDATE:

Two years later and lots of challenges behind me, I'm finally back to work on my '77. My goal was to get it ready to bring to SC East later this month, but my family convinced me to slow my roll and take my time...... I've heeded their advice! I've started with a 100% brake components, gas tank(s) rebuild, PORing the running gear and frame and I added a Tom's 2.5" suspension lift. While she will get new paint and a good scrubbing of the near-perfect original interior and tons of new components, I can't wait to get her out of the garage and on the road tooling around town!

Great story! I used to run I-81 through Virginia to our hunt camp and would be on the lookout also.
