That definately belongs in the "why didn't I think of that " category along side the swim noodle and the pet rock.

Looks like a good idea to me thanks for sharing. :)

That thing would get so full of mud on my truck. What about water crossings? Wouldn't fill up? I think it needs some drainage.

Yeah that was my first thought too. It looks like a great mud and water catcher. I guess with some large drain holes in the bottom, it may serve a purpose. You would want to keep a very close eye on it though to make sure it isn't full of stuff.

black diamond sells the same thing.

BE VERY CAREFUL DURING INSTALLATION! i had a bolt seize going in and i was afraid it was going to break off. use a little oil or some kind of lubricant on the bolts.

I'm thinken...up in Alaska you could run this thing thru a creek,,,and I bet it would be a damn good gold pannin operation. Every couple of weeks you just check in that pan...poof there you go! Pay for itself just like that! ;D

could it be removed quickly to be used as an anchor for my winch cable?, looks like it would dig in just great>
How bad it would dig would depend on your pinion angle. Most of the rock rigs running 9's point the pinion at the transfer so this thing wouldnt dig and would offer some nice protection. If you have the pinion angle set lower (in the proper manner) and see lots of mud then yes it may dig in. It was designed for rocks.
