Hi Everyone,
I have read some prior threads on the insurance topic and am still looking to dive in deeper.
Some issues which keep coming up:
1. Less restrictive uses and higher mileage options. It seems ridicules that a "Sunday Drive" could mean, leave your garage and return directly back with no stops, for example, dinner. It seems ridicules that you cannot take your classic on a weekend trip upstate or to the beach. I would like to be able to do long rides with friends which could rack up miles.
2. Almost all non-classic car policies that I have researched, which do not have the use or mileage restrictions, will not allow a stated or appraised value. They are unable to cite (even after conversations with underwriters) how they will determine value in any loss scenario. The most I got was out of AllState, who stated they go by KBB. KBB does not cover into the 70's. So, if someone side swipes me, there is a few thousand dollar bill, are they going to propose totaling because damage is higher than their unexplainable value?
3. Most classic policies require another vehicle with primary insurance; which ignores access (versus ownership) to other vehicles or living in city/urban environments.
Any guidance would be great as I explore insurance.
