Got axles pulled and cleaned up, but they had some rust on em. In the process of pulling third member and probably gonna pull the whole dang housing off and blast/paint it while I'm at it. My question is, do any of ya'll have any ideas on the best way to clean the inside of the axle housing? The only thing I can think of is degreaser and a rag on a rope. I don't know if I would want to use a pressure washer? After finding some rust on my axles I want to really strip it down and get it cleaned up.

We used the Harbor Freight yellow degreaser and the pressure washer. In the axle tubes, we pushed a rag through with an old broom stick, kinda like cleaning a rifle barrel. When we were done, and it was clean to our satisfaction, I sprayed the interior down with WD-40. The gear lube on the inside cleans up a lot easier than the crud on the OUTSIDE.
