I don't know about New York, but here in CA I could see every local Ford dealer not wanting to touch it since it's not factory original install. Finding someone who will touch custom stuff in CA is difficult. Local dealers here tend to want gravy work, or jobs where they hit it out of the ball park....nothing else...they'll turn it away.

Get a friend in Cali to have it towed to local ford dealer, which one is it, Long Beach?

If your not sure, call a ford dealer in Cali and ask; explain what you have. Tell them it's export to HI and wil remain offraod, they'll work on it.

hey guys!

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. the truck has been in the san pedro area since jan. All I know is that when i flew out there to receive it and put in on the barge it started running very rough bogging out around 40 mph. it seemed to be running extremely rich. the mechanic i left it with was a friend of a friend and a very nice guy who supposedly has 30+ years experience. he could never figure it out so he then took it to another shop called "sweedish car care" (keep in mind i did not know that it was going to a foreign car shop only that he was taking it a a "friends" shop" regardless they were supposed to be fuel injection/ electronic experts. Not only were they supposed to figure out the efi issues but also needed them to install parking brake's cause as with a lot of other things wrong with the truck, the guy who sold it to me forgot to mention to me there was none and they are necessary to put on the barge to hawaii. Anyway, eric, the mechanic at the shop there told me it was "all good", "fixed" I guess they put a band aide on it casue it still is bogging out, running like shit. they only fixed one side of the parking brakes, replaced the starter motor and charged me $700! Like i said earlier, i appretiate all your guys comments, not so much on the 'is there gas in the tank" ones. I was able to recently get it to one of the best bronco/fab shops in southern california so i am now confident it will get figured out....i feel the same as everyone on here, i really dont want a carburated truck. its just that all ive been through, i cant see why no one can figure it out. i mean these assholes at "sweedish car care" have been in biz for like 30 years. i just dont get it. i apologize for calling people out but bottom line these people have made good money off of me and did not deliver on what they said they would do. Mahalo also to ehu, garberz, big jim, matt, and Hawk. really knid of you guys to offer your services . As i said in the beggining, im a dummy when it comes to this stuff. but im a good guy who was looking for an honest person to both buy a truck from and then fix that truck, and i got neither. and now im left with very little money and a truck that i cant get home. Some of you are very kind and i thank you, ill keep you all posted. mahalo nui!
