I have a 74 model with a copper radiator, fan shround, etc. Here in eastern North Carolina during the summer, in stop and go traffic my temp guage is pushing 210 degrees.

I've thought about a pusher fan, but there seems to be a debate whether or not that is effective.

Do you have a fan shroud ..if not do this 1st then you may have to go to several different raditors and try different one after the shround mine runns 210
and will mustly hold there ..

Are you for real? How about letting it cool before you touch it. You don't try apple bobbing in boiling water do you? Anything over about 120 degrees will scald your skin so I'd imagine you would have wait for a while before your engine is cool to the touch.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but did you even think before posting a question this ridiculous or were you just bored?

Kinda harsh on the newbie there 76Broncofromhell, but I did think the bobbing for apples in boiling water was kinda funny ;D

Anyway, you need to find out what your coolant temperature actually is as it may or may not be too hot. If your temperature gauge is not working you can take a reading manually at the radiator, just be careful you don't take a hot shower

You can at least see the ridiculous question part in there can't you? Magic dust to cool it off? Get a glove. You don't take the grill of the barbeque as soon as you're done grilling right? Insert common sense here. Even if your engine runs at a perfect 180 degrees, you won't be able to stick your hand down there for quite some time.

By the way, we man up in Chico - we drink $10 30-packs, not $2 6-packs. If you know where to find $2 6-packs, let me know.

You need to give us a better defination of HOT.
I can't stick my hand on anything on the Bronco all the time because it is too hot to touch. And it is parked next to the house for a week, just sitting in the sun.

Broncofromhell....You're way, way, way out of line on your response on this one! Out of the eight people who responded, you're the only one who thought the newb was being serious in the way he posted his question. If you really thought he was serious about the magic dust, maybe you're the one who needs to "get a glove" Maybe you need to write a tech article on how to properly ask a question on this forum. And get Jon to post a sticky to let everyone know not to be facetious when they ask a question here.

BTW...$2/6pk=$10/30pk

Steelframingone....Yes, it's a fairly common for EBs to run hot. Let us know what temps yours is running, and we'll see if we can help.

Steellframingone,

I just replaced my entire cooling system with brand new everything from waterpump to 4 core aluminum radiator and it still feels hot to the touch.

My factory temp gauge is showing about 185 all day long. Not really sure how accurate it is but it always seems to feel hot.

What did you do to reconcile it? Any answers for anyone else who might be chasing a similar problem in the future?

Just to poke a little fun... Yesterday I was rigging up a trailer so I could set my hard-top on it, and there are some transmission parts sitting in the trailer right now, and the spacer plate that goes between the engine and transmission had been sitting in the sun all day, well it was too hot to touch, unfortunately I touched it with my bare leg... OUCH!!! wish I could have sprinkled a little magic dust on that before I touched it ;)

We just need a little more information for questions. Broncofromhell can come off a little blunt, but he also knows his stuff and can provide some very helpful tech information...

I don't think 190-195 is out of line. Cooling an EB is kinda of a common issue. There are plenty of threads started about it, so that must mean there are a lot of folks seeking help on the issue. You seem a little short in your post here, I hope you aren't taking anything too seriously (the sarcasm). Glad you got it figured out. Sounds like you have put a lot of work into your bronco, and it can get frustrating having a problem after all that work. Hope the rest of your day is better!

Does it get hotter when at speed? do you have a hood scoop with cut openings in front?
If you look in the engine bay, you will notice there is little room and nowhere for the air pulled through the radiator to go. The engine bay "pressurizes", this is why you will find a number of people with holes cut in the side of the bubbles. Oddly, some people don't seem to have this issue. I did, but did the bubble hole trick and that was the end of it. After I finish my newer incarnation, there will be no inner fenders to keep everything hot and it should be even easier to keep cool.
