A friend of mine who works for Copart just sent me an E-mail with the listing for a 74 Bronco , and told me that the general public can now bid on cars from Copart.
If you are as informed as i am, then you didn't know the company is one of the largest salvage companies in the nation and that they are the middle man between the insurance company and the dismantlers and that not all of the vehicles are wrecked.
since no one person can own all of the EBs (although a few lucky guys are sure working on it :) ) I thought I'd put this information out there.

Interesting, we've had a Copart here in town for 7 or 8 years now and only sold to dealers. I noticed a couple weeks ago, they bought another piece of ground. I wonder if that lot will be the "general public" lot.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess I know where I'll be on the weekends. ;D

Friends who own a yard in town have bought some good deals through insurance auctions. Recently they got a theft recovery in excelent shape. Since insurance already paid the owner and the owner already bought a new vehicle, the insurance sold a perfectly good vehicle at auction just to get rid of it. If I remember right it even came with a clean title as it was not damaged beyond salvage value.

I called this morning, you have to pay a $200 registration fee, and a $400 deposit before you can bid. If you want to look at the vehicle the lot is only open for a few hours, you can hear the vehicle run, but you can't drive it. I'm not real sure if it's worth the gamble on an insurance deal, although the prices are awesome...
