I have owned my bronco for 8 years.
---Never replaced the tires as it sat in the garage driven about once every other month.
Ordered tires 2 days ago 33x12.5x15 bfg mud,ta's AND have an appointment at 8am to have them put on sat morning! ;D

 thought I had 4 exact 8x15 inch rims and was gonna skate by on those.

I just was looking at the cast and 2 are 7x15 %) and 2 are 8x15%) exact same rim!

I never in a million years would have thought anyone would do that!..this is truly old school stuff!

Anyone ever heard of people doing this AND will this be a huge off roading issue?

Personally I had no intention of installing a 12.5 tire on a 7 inch rim BUT I am only concerned with safety...what a bummer as I really do not want to invest in rims and besides the rims are in good condition!

I attached a pic of rims as proof of how I got fooled! heh-heh

Opinions on this one...rig will be used for mild wheeling..no rock crawling..basically desert ...no mudding heh-heh.%)  ;D ;D

All my Broncos that came with slots had different BS front and rear but were same size. I think you will be fine still with the 33x1250 on the 15x7

What are "Slots"?

I also just noticed that rims on the front are bigger for the front hubs!

It does not look like I will be rotating rims front to back as the front are sloted for the hubs.:-[

...hmmmmm...never realized that either!??%)

No tire/rim rotation for this boy!..what do I do if I get a flat up front!?..I realized the stock spare opening ir large enough i believe!..still crazy in my himble opinion.

WOW looks like I need new wheels after all!?? eh?

Also are Broncos 5 on 5 1/2?

& what is a decent back spacing for a 8 or 10 inch wide rim?

I am now considering new rims so I can rotate front to back.

Thanks;D

different size width rims will make air pressures change the tire shape. they will no be equal which is a bad thing for 4wd

I thought that also..but since it is "slipping" in dirt not so sure that would be as huge af a deal...I was wondering what others thought also!;D

We used 7" wheels on the class 8 "SNAP" Ford back in the 80s . Our feeling was that with a narrower wheel using a 12.50 it would put a crown on the tread and pull the sidewalls inward to protect them from FODs , sticks, rocks and the like. We ran Barstow and never had a tire problem in 4 laps. Frontier 500 , one flat due to a rollover , The Mint 400 and the infamous "rock garden" one bent wheel but a busted rear axle put us on the trailer. I believe you will be OK !

Well this bronco is set up with 8's up front and 7's in the rear.

Does that make sense? ..the fronts are sloted I guess for the lu nuts and front diff.

I think I will get wheels that are all 8 inches so I can rotate them front to back because as it sits now the bronco has i inch wider wheels up front than the back.

I bought Crager "Soft Eights" from Summit a few years ago for about 50 bucks a piece. Steel rim with powder coated finish ...can't beat it.

Here ya go ....http://store.summitracing.com/partd...793325+4294795098+4294755955+115&autoview=sku

These are 15 x 8 , I used 15 x 10 , wish I had the 8's. No issues off-roading , just prefer the look of a 12.5 on an 8 inch rim better.

,,Yep I like those...wouldn't mind them in powdercoated silver...hmmm AND they are my price!;D

General rule of thumb: wheel width should be within 2" of tire width. That being said, I've ran 12.5 wide tires on 8" wheels all of my life and never had any problem. The do stand up a little bit taller on the narrower wheel, but not enough to make a difference in final drive ratio unless you are using them on the same axle with a locker, and even then I don't think it would bother you too much unless you were on dry pavement. You will be fine using these wheels, but an excuse to get new wheels is also great!

5 on 5.5"

Offset with a 10" wide rim and fender flairs should be about negative 1". That would put the edge of the flair even with the edge of the tire. Negative 1" offset on a 10" wide rim would be 4" of backspacing.

I hope that helps.

Glad to help ! Post pics when you get 'em put on!

Yes And THANKS!!;)

Got on last Wed and the other 3 showed up today!...there is a die lot issue but I think only I would notice...so they will get mounted some time this week...actually they go well with the new silver powder coated Protofab bumpers!...kinda crazy how well they matched!
Hopefully the won't need a lot of weight considering the are inexpensive wheels.
