Crossing the border for body/paint/mechanical work?

Hey folks, I've been thinking about bringing a car or truck down to Mexico for repairs for quite some time now but never have. Does anyone have any recommendations for a body shop first? I know people have been doing this for quite some time to save some money and find quality craftsmen. Travelling down there doesn't bother me, the language isn't an issue, and I don't mind going a little farther south than the border towns. Preferably south of CA or AZ.

Thanks

My brother did that in the 50s. Went down and got an inexpensive “tuck and roll“ job done on his, if I remember, 54 Buick.
Border guards trashed it coming back in, looking for drugs! Ha ha!
Last time he did that…

Of course, things have gotten a lot more sophisticated since then. But right now I would be very leery of going back-and-forth over the border. Sounds like you’ve done it many times and know the routine? If so, then it should work out for you.
Sorry, I don’t know any good sources to recommend.
