Custom Fuel Filler hose assembly

OK... I did do a search but after about 9 pages I finally gave up looking...

My fuel filler caps are 2" O.D and I planned on using 90` elbows right off the filler and then using a piece of 2" OD pipe with essentially a bung welded into it for the vent hose and then continuing down to the tank with 2" hose.

I wanted to do that with both tanks and filler caps... here's the issues involved:
- Both filler caps are 2" OD
- Because of the fender wells... I need a 2" 90` elbow... which I can't seem to find a petroleum rated part ANYWHERE.
- Is there a specific 2" pipe that is welding and gasoline friendly (to put vent plumbing into) and where do I get some?
- I have 5' of gasoline rated 2" tubing for the rest of the assembly
- the 12gal. NWMP reserve tank fitting is 1.75"... so I need some sort of reducer to get my 2" tube down to 1.75" to fit on the tank... WHERE do I find such an animal?
- the 23gal. NWMP rear tank has a 2" fitting so that shouldn't be a problem.

I have searched the Internet for HOURS looking for 2" fuel rated elbows, reducers... anybody know where to get some?

Is radiator hose ok or no for fuel delivery? Is there a special metal tubing to use for the couplers and/or reducers.... and where can I find 1.75" fuel rated hose... or if it doesn't matter what hose I use... what would you all recommend?

I'm scratching my head on this one... and pretty frustrated about the whole deal. Any tips or pointers or ideas are VERY welcome...

Checker (and Autozone) carry some 90* 2" exhaust pipe on the shelf. I don't think it has any rust protection, but maybe. They have reducers too.

PECO (in Albuquerque) might have some things for you too.

if you can get your fuel neck assembly down and pointed to the tank neck i can make you the reducer. i can just expand up a piece of s/s 1.75 to 2.0 and roll the retaining beads in the ends, simple deal.
the hardest part of this is getting the tight bend radius hose on the neck up top.
here's how i did the last one. with the neck frenched in it made it a bit more difficult room wise
let me know if i can help ya out. ;)

ok... I got 2 -2" 90` fuel rated elbows to come off of the fillers and a stick of 1.75" fuel rated straight pipe to go with my 2" fuel rated flexible tubing... NAPA of all places.... go figure.

So I will figure out what I need as far as reducers and fittings for the vent and the couplings/reducers Nick.... we'll go from there.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not the fuel tanks need to be black? I would like them silver... just didn't know if that was a kosher idea or not.

I was going to suggest exhaust tubing. I know theat they offer speciality bends for tight fitting headers. They look like steel doughnuts the bends are so tight. come in 360° and you cut out the bend out need. Lot tighter bends then parts store. Available in stainless if you desire.

ben yes that is one of my stainless tanks.
i built the neck out of left over header bends. those have nice tight bend raidiuses and are thin wall.

Can't think of any reason you can't use the color of your choice. Heck, there's probably a Hot Pink tank or two running around this forum!
If you're wondering about heat, or resistance to fuel, or whatever, then I'd say no, it's personal choice.

Cool Paul... I didn't think it was a safety issue but I figured I'd ask. I'd like to get those tanks fairly well taken care of this weekend if possible as well.

Why can't you take a straight piece of exhaust tubing and start cutting notches in it and bend it into the radius you want, it doesn't flow air just fuel doesn't have to be smooth.

I could do that... I just didn't want to build something that might rust if it wasn't fuel rated.

Looks like I have my tubing... and I'll get some stainless couplers made.

I found a sheet metal shop that will make essentially covers that will bolt in to cover the rubber. Not that it makes any difference to a determined gas thief or that it's totally cosmetic... but I'm tossing around the idea
