anyone know what else I may need and a good place to get them? I know I will find out more when I take it all apart. this is the last time I rebuild this D44
Not sure what traction devise or is, a limited slip of some kind. I did find a couple litte springs inside.
Going to put a Detroit. Question will I need to reset up my gears if I use all the same shims?

I would leave the pinion alone and adjust the shims for backlash with the new carrier and check it. Most likely if it was good enough before it will give an acceptable pattern with the new carrier.
