Dana 20 output shaft (damaged), is it unusable?

Hello again,
I am working on my dana 20 (still), I took the rear output shaft out and pressed off the bearing. I cleaned it up and began to inspect it, I have a couple questions for the experts out there.
1. The outside 3 threads got stripped off when I removed the nut. Is this still usable or scrap iron?
2. looking at the gear end there appears to be step in the teeth, is this normal or is it scrap iron?
I am afraid I already know the answer, I have another case and the output shaft is cracked on it so I am out of spare parts.
Let me know what you think.
As always, Thanks in advance!

Will the nut thread back on? If it does you might be ok seeing how some thread locker should be used for final assembly.

I'd keep an eye open for a better one. Lot's of us will install a hardened shaft making the stock one surplus. If you wheel your bronco you may want to go to the hardened shaft route. I've broken a couple stock shafts over the years.

I'd call it last choice useable. D20s are easy to find under $100. Keep your eyes open.

That output shaft is worn - most of them are. It is usable but I trust stock D20 output shafts about as much as I do gas station sushi and the man with the slicked back hair that sells used cars downtown.

I was a non-believer about how easy they are to break, until I broke mine. I upgraded to the aftermarket 300m shaft sold by WH and I still carry a built spare when I go on trips.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at the upgrade but my wallet is not willing to help me out right now. I have located a stock shaft for now , thanks to one of the members on here. I will get it and install it until I can afford the upgraded shaft. I have enough parts to put together another output assembly when that time comes.
Thanks again for the replies, I always appreciate the input!
Have a good one!
