Dana 20 Rebuild?? I Need Help!!

Hi,

I opened my Dana 20 to see what shape the gears were in. There is some rust but not as bad as I was expecting. I thought I would try to get some other opinions. What do you think? Should I replace the gears or just clean up and reinstall. Thanks!!

They don't look too bad. I'd clean them up and use them.

I'd run it as is, except for the rust mine were more beat and the consensus here and I think Steve was a big part back then to run it but clean up that and other gear lobes with a wire wheel, I had to use a dremel on one to smooth out a small nick. If you take it apart look inside and on the bushings for trouble. Otherwise, reseal it and go if it doesn't have too much endplay. Mine needed bearings as it was way out. Theres some good threads on rebuilding these here.
