Rebuilt Dana 20 and added a twin stick. It shifts into all the positions but I need to put it in 4 HI in order to get it fully seated in 2 HI. If I try and go from 4 HI to N on the front, it pulls the rear out of 2 HI. If I start with Front wheels in Neutral, sometimes I can get the rear to shift into 2 HI but it doesn’t feel like it shifts fully into gear... If that makes sense. Did I do something wrong with the rails when rebuilding?

To add … when both shifters are in HI and I attempt to move front into N, the rear shifter moves with it.

I have the same problem with mine so I will be watching this thread to see if anyone knows the answer.
I eliminated my front shifter and put a stack of washers on the bolt to take up the slack. Now it goes all the way in and doesn't jump out of gear while driving. I put the adjustable detents in and that didn't fix it. Like you said when you move one shifter the other wants to move with it. Good luck!

Here’s a quick video. The beginning shows what I’m talking about. The starting point of the video both front and rear are in Hi

All I got. I put a twin stick on the T shift D20 and it had a weird looking spacer block when I took the old twin stick off. Reason it was removed is the one main mount bolt broke.....when stuck in the middle of a trail...sideways...with the front axle long side axle shaft broke. NO way to get the new set up installed without reinstalling the block. Rear works great, front not so much. 1st pic is what came off, 2nd is what went back on.

Are you sure your shift rod tabs are cut enough and not catching on each other?

Have you tried this shifting with the truck rolling just a little. Sometimes the shifters work better with a little gear movement. Your shifter seem to be working thru the detents. Try it rolling if you can. As far a popping out of rear drive goes.I have only had this problem after changing the rear output shaft. I think they work better with the parts they were born with.

Shot in the dark here.....Is it possible the cut out in the floor isn't big enough to allow the sticks to fully engage when pulled back or completely forward?? My opening for twin sticks was much larger.

Also, is there a body lift?? If so, that could affect the front and back travel amount of the shift levers.

That is possible, it’s close. That was actually on my list today, to cut a little more out. And it’s got a 2” body lift. I’ll update if that does it.

Problem solved! It was not the cut in the floor issue. The end of the rear rail hits the shift linkage. I think I can fix it with some spacers on the linkage.
