I have a leaky Dana 44 Pinion Seal.
#1 Can I just undo the pinion nut
#2 Pull yoke off
#3 Remove old seal
#4 Replace with new seal
#5 Replae yoke and pinion nut
#6 Torque with electric impact hammer

Any Information would be appriciated.
Thank you,
Phil

Some may complain about the pinion bearing prelaod but experience states that will be fine.

I would add step #0, pull the cover and drain the oil first or you will find a big mess between steps #2 and 3.
Some sealer under the washer during step #5 has been known to keep oil from weeping through the splines on the pinion.

Some people are just anal about torquing stuff.
I have torqued one once, all the rest I just use the rattle gun and a lot of air pressure behind it.

Why would that even matter?:? It dosen't use a crush sleeve so, the preload wouldn't change.-------Hans

On the 44 I am good with removing the yoke / replacing the seal and impacting the yoke back on. The 9'' is a different story.
