Nice work brother. I am screwing my pans down.

I had cancer creeping up my tunnel cover and didn't want to wish I had replaced it later so my back is killing me after screwing 2 boxed of screws down then pulling each one out and welding
Holy mother I hope I never have to do that again!
Good Luck

Okay the next step is to tie in the hump and keep at it. I had to remove the heater box so I have anti freeze under the truck.

Can anyone explain the technique used to weld the holes after you remove a screw?

When I did my floors I found it difficult to get a good weld between the new pan and the underlying piece. Since the screw hole is so small and is the same size for both pieces, it would close up before welding the two together.

On some, I was able to do it by angling the tip so that I was welding the edges together and then close the hole up after. This resulted in non-sexy welds which required clean up.

Where possible, I used a centering drill bit to drill through the top piece which made it easier to weld the two pieces together.

I usually use a 1/4" drill bit after I take a screw out and open up the hole on the upper piece of metal without going all the way through both pieces.

I had the same problem with the first set of pans I did, so the next two I pre-drilled the pans and used screws sparingly. I also had my helper (Miss Stacey) do the spot welds while I held the metal down with a long screw driver.

Great work brother. Can't wait to see the final product.

The key is to have your wire touching the body metal, hit the trigger and do a circular motion to the center, I'd say it should take 5 seconds on the trigger

Another key is to put a screw down every inch so when u pull one screw you don't get separation, it's a lot of screws and welds but u don't want to have to scrape off your raptor liner because your floors are rattling.

Thanks bro. I may also try the over head welding gig on the lower supports. I love burning up wrangler jeans when I weld. I save your # you are BOWHUNTER on my iphone.
