Just an update, haven't received the frame vin from the folks at Maxlider yet. First was told it was mostly worn off. So asked them to take some steel wool or sand paper to it, and as of yet haven't heard back. I do think and hope the vins will match, but the lack of communication is frustrating.

That’s very interesting, if true that means THEY bought it without verifying the VIN match...I would think a company that buys, modifies and sells Broncos would make that a priority??

It is a fact that the frame VINs were not always ‘well struck’ by the stampers, but the VIN in the engine bay is almost always well preserved by the oil and grime. ‘Mostly worn off’ is not a satisfactory answer IMO

Another thing they should know is NOT to use sandpaper!!! So hopefully they don’t take your advice... Wire brush only ;)

Ha..good to know on the sandpaper. I figured if they just scuffed around it that would make it more visible but sounds like it would make it more invisible.

It has been an odd buying experience for sure. I don't know if maybe it is just the bronco world or what, but I have purchased a ton of cars and this experience is unlike anything before.

Yep, mine wasn't "well struck" I guess, but it was preserved for sure. I had to spray white paint on it and rub off, to help highlight the numbers to read them.

Frame vin is a match. Excited to bring this one back to the east coast! Thanks again for all the help.

Congrats for sure chas! Can't wait to see "real" pictures of it after you get it in your hands.
Been a bit of a wait, but glad you are bringing it home. What kind of schedule are you thinking for receiving it?
And will it be transported covered? That flat front nose attracts a lot of bugs and junk, so if the trailer is open it should be covered. Even if it's a sacrificial soft cover that might get all wind beaten and torn up in the trip, it would be $50-$100 bucks well spent I think.
As long as the transport people know how to tie one down securely that is!

Let us know when it walks through the door.

Paul, thanks! I hope to receive it within the next week...by then I should hopefully know how to post pictures on the forum and will share. Then the plan is to really go through it. I know it has a small leak at the rear diff pinion seal that will need to be tackled and the heater fan doesn't blow really well which honestly isn't too big a concern.

I was planning on open transport, but you bring up a great point so am going to get an enclosed rate as well. I barely trust a transport company to deliver when they say they are going to deliver much less properly secure a soft cover over the front. Man those guys are just the worst to deal with. Another thought is I could also ask Erik to wrap the front in painters tape.

Thanks again for your help. I have learned a ton so far.

A wrap is a great idea! The transport company (even a cheapskate one) likely takes care of things like a broken windshield, but chips in the grille paint are probably in the "hey, they were already there when we picked it up" category.

And yes, a few of them arrive on time as scheduled, but stories of the opposite are legion.
Best of luck with your experience. And if good, please pass it on here to others can benefit.
And speaking of which, unless it's already been arranged, there are already a few good reviews around here. With so many now going through this, we should have a thread as a database of good (and bad) transport experiences to pull from.
