I put in Dennis Carpenter turn signal bases in early May. It’s mid-September now. The color was gray... I take this out maybe once every week or so and it’s garaged. The color is now not gray. Whatever was on it before for about 15 years held its color but this, no.

I’ll deal with it, not looking for any help here. But anyone thinking about getting these are the thing twice.

No only that, I had to re-drill holes because they weren’t centered. Overall a very poor quality product.

This was a photo of the original install with the old lens on top of it.

I have the turn signal buckets in front, as well, put in at the same time. Waiting for those to fail.

That’s one of the reasons I did early turn signal conversion on my 74. Vendors now have a billet version. Maybe a better way to go than the rubber.

Good idea--just looked and saw those, might be a better idea. Thanks--

I got these black rubber ones from Tom's. They fit perfect. Way better than the closed-cell foam the PO had on there. If you want grey, I think Tom's also sells a grey version, in the same type of rubber.
The billet ones are real nice too - pricey though!

I second the thumbs up for the TBP black pads. They could be hard rubber or poly. Either way, they look and fit excellent.

I think the black rubber from TBP would look good on your rig, but it is disappointing for folks trying to get things that look original. I got new FORD grill letters from DC a couple of years ago and they were plastic junk with China stickers on them. Horrible, but suitable until I can get the originals redone.
For a while now we have been stuck in the EB world balancing cost and quality on repro parts. I learned to basically try to keep everything I take off my Bronco and try to repurpose it. There is almost NOTHING that comes off the EB that has a better quality equivalent in the after market, not withstanding some things that just wear out of course.

Word to the wise, save everything!

+1 On the Toms gaskets, they still look new and feel pliable after ~5 years of living outside

the best thing i've found is the urethane ones from energy suspension pt no. 4.9101G

something in the chemical composition of that grey they have never held up well in my 40 years of messing with these things..

The two sets of gray I have had turn greenish-gray after a few years. The problem is, the argent grills used gray signal bases and black is not an option. Also, on a side note, I have noticed that silicone radiator hoses in blue turn a greenish darker blue after a few years. There must be something about poly that darkens. As to the fit, my turn signal bases fit just fine. But the color does get that sickly greenish gray. Looks like a new car color.

I have had the same issue with UV light changing the grey to amber, brown and green too.. What's so hard about making new ones like Ford made them in 1969? Is the '69 technology too advanced for us today? I don't understand...?:?

Dennis Carpenter says that since I bought it from a vendor, it’s their problem.

It’s a $17 set of parts they don’t want to own. So there you go, it’s on the record, Dennis Carpenter does not stand behind the quality of their products.

And no I’m not going after the vendor. Not even going to name them. They should have a reasonable expectation that the product is quality. I mistakenly thought Dennis Carpenter would want to know their product is not holding up after just a few months, but now they are simply referring me back to the vendor.

For me $17 is not much. But the value of future business and revenue I might provide is, as Master Card says, priceless.

The only solution I have found for this is to pull them off and hit them with some vinyl dye.

Here’s a before and after pic. The one on the right just got a coat.....

Looks like mine did after a year or so..... your left lens is upside down. I see the drain hole on the top.
