i have heard mixed answers to this:
does it work in reverse? as in, does it lock both tires when in reverse?
what is your experience?
thanks

I'm 90% shure it will give you the same traction bias in forward or reverse. That said they don't "lock up". They just transfer % of touque until one tire is off the ground. I'll test that theory in a week or two when I get mine installed in the front. It should complement the lock right in the back.

They don't work as well in reverse unless you put in one that is supposed to go into an opposite drive axle. Then it wouldn't work as well in forward. That is the reason they have different part numbers for front or rear axle installation.

Mine has never not had both tires spin forward or reverse in Louisianas dirt, mud and pavement. Maybe a different story in a rock park.

I'v never really noticed any time that it did not work in reverse, it may not work as good but its not a deal breaker as far as I am concerned

Really? Mine locks up on dirt, gravel and pavement (haven't had it in mud yet). Forward that is.....no idea about reverse

I've got Trutracs in both Broncos and they will spin both tires on the grass and gravel and chirp if you take off from a stop sign and make a sharp turn a little too quickly.
Rjrobin there is trouble shooting/test procedure for test your trutracs- involves amount of torque to turn one axle with other in the air -I think.
I love my trutracs - wish i woulda bought a couple for the D-44 when they were easier to find.

My statement was "Mine has never not had both tires spin". I guess that's kinda confusing. I guess I could say "Mine always spins both tires" and I love it. I have them front and rear.

I'm a huge TrueTrac fan. Can't say I ever noticed anything different about forward versus reverse performance....not saying it's not but never noticed.

I hate when I don't process correctly what I'm reading. :)

I love mine as well. Thinking about putting on in my 69 Mach 1

The trutrac I got was for a HP 44 but new in the box for $180 on the summit racing cheep shelf, it was out on display and had gotten a bit of rust. I took it apart to do the pinion or worm gear flip, to make it work in an LP 44. The only thing I could see different was the strength of the thrust area, it is marginally stronger if the worm gears thrust to the inside, that is all I could find so I think it's a strength issue as far as forward/reverse not a functional issue

It does great in front and I have no problem turning in 4x4, but I do have stock power steering. These things just keep power to the correct tires and I don't spin tires that often. I even went to OCBR and climbed every '3' I wanted with ease. It is strong enough I hear my inner rear tire when making U turns in parking lots.
